Start work round 1 to 3pm until  9 or 11pm then home. Been like this for the last 6 weeks or more. Quite a weird lifestyle. It's a Coopers Dark Ale. This is an Australian beer. But don't hold that against it, it's actually up there with some of the best euro beers. It's a dark ale and very, very tasty. First discovered on tap at a pub in Camperdown called the Hampshire, and recently bought in bottle format. The year is progressing OK. Although with a third of it already gone, it seems like it's going by in flash. Wedding plans are progressing. Had a trip down there for my close friend Pete's wedding.  Seems to be a very laid back unspoiled place, but not without some of the trappings of civilization. We stayed in Hobart, the capital in a lovely serviced apartment called Somerset on the Pier on the water. It's all there, riduculour falstetto vocals singing apocalyptic melodrama over the top of ripping guiitars, arpeiggiated synths and bombastic piano, not to mention the flat out heavy drumming and fat distorted basslines.I saw Muse live in September 2004 in Sydney without having heard them and was floored by it. The album is called Riddim Wise from 2004. I missed their crowd pleaser  of a gig last year due to a cold. The CD is quite hard to find, but I managed to pick a copy up at the local Fish Records. So what's it like? Mind blowing. A great album. High enegry, soulful and fresh sounding. And from local talent. A great film. It was made by City of God director Fernando Meirelles, and like that film didn't hold back in any way. As you probably remember, a few weeks ago I was hanging out for a new Powerbook. Well this Tuesday I finally got one and a fine machine it is too. Even though it's not as fast as a G5, it seems to be handling my musical work pretty well. Should be fine for editing as well. Also the tests for using it live at gigs went well too. I read Alex Kerr's first book on Japan called Lost Japan (1996), which was very interesting, quite an insight in to Japanese culture.
